Update: India wins by 5 wickets and leads the series 1-0
India takes on West Indies in the first test. India is itching to win this series and regain some pride by climbing up the ICC test rankings. At the same time West Indies has the memories fresh of a 0-1 loss to Indian young team earlier this year back home.
West Indies has returned from a tour to Bangladesh where in the second test they registered a big win over Bangladesh. That could be a confidence booster for them. Meanwhile India has registered a 5-0 whitewash win against England at home in an ODI series. So even India is riding high on confidence.
Nothing is more exciting when all the Indian batting stars play in India. A lot is expected from a strong batting line up of Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Dhoni. Bowling department looks a bit of concern in the absence of dropped Harbhajan and injured Zaheer. In the spin department Ojha and Ashwin would play a vital role.
In absence of Chris Gayle, a lot of responsibility stays on the shoulders of experienced Chanderpaul. The pitch here at Ferozshah Kotla may crumble in the second half of the test match. This could be a performance booster for the spinners.
