After a gloomy test series, India bounced back very heavily in this CB Series as they find themselves on the first position of points table half way mark. Australia is on 2nd position followed by narrowly separated Sri Lanka. India takes on Australia for the 3rd time in this series with one win and one loss against them.
This series has entered an interesting stage where one win or loss to Australia or Sri Lanka may change the face of points tally very majorly. MS Dhoni is the key to Indian team with his tactical captaincy, cool head and match winning knocks at the end. He is now known to be one of the best finishers of ODI games.
Gautam Gambhir has been phenomenal with his batting as he scored 91 and 92 in his last two innings. He narrowly missed hundreds but anyhow his 90 plus scores along with tight bowling - fielding and good knocks by Dhoni earned victories to India.
As Sehwag is likely to sit out again, we may see Gambhir and Sachin opening the innings. Middle order of India comprising of Raina, Sharma and Kohli seems to be out of form. A rock solid performance from them can ensure a win here for India at Gabba. Bowling department may see return of Zaheer and Praveen.
Australia wobbles with below average batting, bowling as well as fielding performances. Michael Clarke is still recovering from injury meanwhile Ricky Ponting takes care of the captaincy yet again. A good knock from Ponting and Warner is much needed. Bowling and fielding needs to pick up a bit.
Gabba, Brisbane promises support to batsmen and quick bowlers. So we may see both the teams full with strong batting line up and quick bowlers. Stats favour India at this venue as they have a better record here against Australia in the recent past.
