Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians face in the second eliminator today

RR vs MI Live Match

Rajasthan Royals clinched a nail biting win against the underdogs Sunrisers Hyderabad in first eliminator and they are all ready to take on Mumbai Indians in the second eliminator. Mumbai Indians lost to Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier and lost a chance to register a berth in the finals. Chennai has reached IPL finals for fifth time in six years of IPL history.

Although Rajasthan team and the management was plagued with spot fixing saga, still they showed a great character and pulled out a great win at Delhi. If this team can get past Mumbai today and Chennai in the finals, it would be a huge emotional relief for the team.

Rajasthan Royals is now running out of options for a genuine spinner. Pravin Tambe has been ruled out due to an injury. Ashok Menaria can be a part time option for spin. Brad Hogg can get a match today ahead of Cooper. But it all depends on how Dravid plans the team composition based on the pitch of the Eden Gardens.

In terms of batting, Rajasthan have been good in patches. Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane have scored 400 plus runs this year. They are consistent in providing a solid start to the innings. This would be a tight contest as Mumbai has a good bowling line up to contest. A lot depends on Shane Watson. If he gets going, he is unstoppable. Samson and Hogg can always provide vital contributions in the lower middle order.

Mumbai have lost their winning ways a bit in last two games. After sealing a birth in top two positions they lost a match against Kings XI Punjab at Dharamsala, followed by a defeat against Chennai Super Kings at Delhi. Sachin Tendulkar is injured and would be out of cricket for atleast three weeks. Aditya Tare gets few more opportunities in the playing XI.

Dwayne Smith looks in solid form the way he played against Chennai Super Kings. Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik were in brilliant form during the round robin matches. They somehow need to continue that good form if the team has to reach finals. Pollard is always dangerous when he comes out to bat.

Johnson has been the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai Indians. Even Harbhajan has managed to clinch good number of wickets this year. Ojha has been economical. Malinga has been silent this year.

This is an even contest, taking into consideration the similarities between the two teams. Apart from the similar blue jerseys, these teams have had good home record this year and not so good away record. Play offs are to be played on neutral venue. So let us see who has an upper hand at the Eden Gardens today.
